Safer Internet Day – 6 February 2018
Safer Internet Day – Febuary 6th, 2018
Dear Parents / Carers
Safer Internet Day is an annual event which promotes the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. 2018’s slogan is “Create, Connect and Share Respect: A better internet starts with you”.
Coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, hundreds of organisations, including Cardinal Langley RC High School, are helping promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
In recent years cyberbullying and online abuse has hit headlines with stories of devastating impact on the lives of those involved. It is estimated that 24% of young people will experience cyberbullying in some form.
We hope that by raising awareness of cyberbullying and internet safety we can promote safer browsing practices and help students understand the importance of respecting each other online; and that it’s always a good idea for students to talk to someone about any issues they may be struggling with.
If students experience any issues online these can be reported to the school via www.tootoot.co.uk or through the student links section on the school website.
Parents can find more information, including top tips and a video explaining how you can help your son or daughter, at https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/safer-internet-day/2018/safer-internet-day-2018-top-tips-parents-and-carers
If you have any concerns, or would like to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
