Governors

A school’s governing body has three core functions:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils and the performance management of staff
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

The Governing Body of Cardinal Langley RC High School fulfils its role through a committee structure.  Each committee has its own Terms of Reference (TOR) which establish levels of delegation, membership and purpose.  The three main committees are:
Curriculum and Pupils’ Issues (C&P) Committee – all areas relating to pupils and learning
Resources Committee – all areas relating to staffing, finance, premises and health and safety
Standards Committee – in-depth consideration and analysis of school performance and data

All Governors who are not staff members are eligible to sit on any of the following occasional committees, as standard:

  • Pupil Discipline Committee
  • Personnel & Pay Implementation Committee
  • Personnel Appeals Committee
  • Complaints Committee
  • Pupil Admissions Committee
